About us
Creating a better future by inspiring young people to look after our world
The Young People’s Trust for the Environment (YPTE) is a charity that aims to encourage young people’s understanding of the environment and the need for sustainability.
Young people are our future - they are the next generation of workers, parents and decision makers. It is vital that they have an understanding of today’s environmental problems before they become tomorrow’s adults. Armed with this knowledge and unfettered by adult cynicism, their thinking now could provide future answers to today’s challenges.
We hope to inspire young people to create real environmental change for their futures, and through more sustainable lifestyles to leave a lasting legacy for their children’s children.
Our services
Free information service: available online from our website, www.ypte.org.uk . The site provides information on wildife and environmental issues, written specifically for young people.
School talks service: our interactive and dynamic presentations on a range of environmental issues are extremely popular with schools. The talks are provided free, though we do ask for a contribution towards travel costs.
Environmental Discovery Courses: a fantastic way for school groups in years 4 to 8 to experience nature at first hand. The courses deliver lasting impacts to participants, and make learning fun. Courses are provided at residential centres in Cumbria, Dorset and Somerset.
Summer holidays: our summer holiday programmes are for young people aged 8 -16 to attend as individuals. Enjoyment is coupled with learning, and with guests from all over the UK, they offer a great way of making new friends.
Publication of Conservation Education: a termly bulletin for teachers, downloadable free of charge from our website. Each issue covers a different aspect of the environment, and is linked to the delivery of the National Curriculum.
