The Trust's staff:
Director:
Peter Littlewood
Peter joined the staff of the Young People’s Trust for the Environment way back in 1993 on the day after he finished his final exam for a degree in Archaeology. Peter was already an experienced outdoor instructor when he started working for the Trust, and now has over 18 years experience of leading and organising residential trips for school groups and young people.

He became the Trust’s Director in 1999, and has been responsible for heading major projects including the Living for the Future Millennium Awards and Barclaycard LivingLand, which ran from 2001-2004 and Making waves in your community for Northumbrian Water in 2005. He is currently responsible for devising and delivering the Green School Awards for Total.
Peter is interested in developing new projects for corporate sponsors. Ultimately, his ambition is the creation of a new low impact residential centre for environmental education, which will use alternative technologies and resource-saving practices wherever possible.
Since the Trust's relocation, he has been able to work from home, and he is enjoying his new environmentally-friendly way of working. He is delighted to have a job that he enjoys so much, which makes a difference, and which is so varied and interesting.
Regional Education Officer (North):
Morna Stevens
Morna has been involved in Environmental Education since 1992 when, as a fresh–faced graduate in Geography, she was employed as a seasonal ‘ranger’ for a residential environmental centre near Inverness.

During her three years in the post she developed her passion for anything to do with wildlife and the great outdoors. She then worked in an educational capacity for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Gloucestershire and the Field Studies Council in the Yorkshire Dales until she finally decided to qualify as a ‘proper teacher’ in 1999.
She taught for two years in a secondary school in Cumbria before the call of environmental education became too strong and in 2002 she took up her present post with the Young People’s Trust for the Environment. The combination of indoor teaching and outdoor Environmental Discovery Courses makes her job thoroughly varied and enjoyable. She is still based in Cumbria and is proud to represent the YPTE as the only member of staff north of Guildford!
Morna is currently on maternity leave. Watch this space for news of her return!
