The bulk of YPTE's courses are held at Brenscombe Outdoor Centre, near Corfe Castle in Dorset.
A converted farm, the centre has a range of beautiful limestone buildings and provides our accommodation and food. The centre's grounds provide great opportunities for play and the rural setting makes an ideal base for the courses. There are a huge range of habitats and beautiful locations for environmental study within easy reach by minibus and several are accessible on foot from the centre itself. All instruction for Environmental Discovery Courses is provided by YPTE's staff.
Our tutors are genuinely enthusiastic about the natural world. This helps create a unique experience which can have a real and deep-rooted impact on attitudes, interest and awareness. Our courses encourage understanding of how people can damage or improve the environment, and how changes to places can affect the future quality of people’s lives.
By special arrangement, courses are also available in Somerset (different pricing applies). In Somerset, we make use of The Magdalen Project, a popular centre for schools and youth organisations, which is run as an organic farm. Its grounds stretch to 132 acres and groups are accommodated in a self-contained building.
The number of regular annual visitors is testimony to the efficient and effective systems of these well-run centres which are both ideal bases for our environmental programmes.
